CPS&IoT Academy

The “CPS&IoT Academy” project aims to establish a sustainable informal education platform in Montenegro focusing on cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things (IoT). CPS integrates computing with physical processes, while IoT exchanges and processes data about these processes via the Internet. These fields are essential for the digital transformation of modern societies and the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3). However, formal education systems often lack the flexibility and resources to offer practical training in these rapidly evolving areas, which is why informal education is needed.

Led by institutions like MANT and MECOnet, the project builds on the success of previous initiatives such as the Mediterranean Conference on Embedded Computing (MECO) and other events related to CPS and IoT. These efforts are internationally recognized, and the consortium behind the CPS&IoT Academy aims to transfer this knowledge to younger generations in Montenegro.

The project’s objectives include developing a curriculum for non-formal education, conducting pilot training programs, and ensuring the Academy’s sustainability. The Academy will offer short- and medium-term courses for three target groups: high school students (introductory level), university students and professionals (intermediate level), and more advanced students and professionals (advanced level). This initiative seeks to fill the educational gap in CPS and IoT, equipping future engineers and professionals with the skills necessary for Montenegro’s digital transformation.
